BONDED SEALS ( also known as Dowty Washers) are a rectangular section metal washer to which a trapezoidal shaped rubber ring is bonded into its centre the metal ring prevents over compression and extrusion of the inner pliable ring.
Bonded Seals are reliable and dependable in high pressure applications used under heads of bolts or threaded components, pipe couplings and a miraid of applications where a perfect face to face contact is required to seal oil, gases and fluids.
Both the washer and the inner element are available in different materials to suit the application required, the most common being mild steel or stainless steel with the inner rubber compounds being Nitrile, Viton, EPDM or HNBR. Most of our bonded washers are 540 UTS, however we can also supply High Tensile Steel at 880 UTS .
We can offer different combinations of metal washer to rubber sealing elements such as

WHY USE BONDED SEALS?
Bonded Seals were originally designed to replace copper type washers in high
pressure systems. The composition of a metal washer and an elastomeric ring bonded to the inner diameter soon proved a far more effective and reliable sealing element and the metal washer preventing over-compression and a limit to the deformation of the elastomeric ring soon proved its design worth throug out every industry
